Wellesbourne Allotments Association & the Village

Wellesbourne School Gardening Club

Allotment holders, as well as current and ex-Association Officers, Dave Roche and Ken Wheal assist with the “Gardening Club” at the Wellesbourne Primary School run by teacher Claire James.  They have provided critical manpower in raised bed preparation, building poly tunnels, creating & edging paths as well as providing seeds for the children to grow in their "allotment".  Dave and Ken run tours of the main allotments and help educate the children on where the food comes from, how it grows and which vegetable/fruit is which (vital in the days of so much processed food!). Furthermore, they have been instrumental in securing significant funds from the Council to assist the club's ongoing activities.

The school Gardening Club was praised by the 2012 “Heart of England in Bloom” judges, demonstrating how successful the group is overall.

Chedham's Yard

Chedham's Yard is a village heritage site, best known for winning BBC Two's "Restoration Village" competition in 2006.  Members of the Association assist as gardening helpers there, as that site slowly develops and matures.
